Jordan Chiles was in awe of pop icon Beyonce as she performed on the halftime show in Houston on Christmas day. Chiles has been an admirer of Beyonce since young, even taking inspiration for her leotard designs from the latter's tour outfits.
As a part of the US women's gymnastics team, Jordan Chiles walked home with the gold from the Paris Olympics. Though she added the floor silver to her repertoire, it was soon stripped of her due to an ordeal involving the Romanian Gymnastics Federation and the CAS. Despite the heartbreak, Chiles was on top of her fashion game throughout the season, attending events and ad shoots.
Months after the conclusion of the Games and the GOAT, Chiles experienced a night on Christmas that she had long awaited. She attended Beyonce's halftime show in Houston, which also went live on Netflix. In her Instagram story, she snapped her idol standing atop a podium with 'Bang' written on it and paired it with the caption:
"Yall!!!! this was crazy and a dream come true!!!!"
Dressed in a red cowboy-inspired attire, much like Beyonce in the promotional video of her halftime show, Jordan Chiles performed a jig in one of the latter's songs.
"an a oop caught!! of course I’m ready!!" her X caption read.
On November 19, 2024, Chiles was quick to drop Christmas plans with family to confirm her attendance at Beyonce's show when the latter's promo was released.
"Sorry to all my family I will be here!!!!"
Chiles resumed her NCAA career with her alma mater, UCLA, and will soon take the gymnastic mat for the 2025 season.
Jordan Chiles once chose to star in a Beyonce video over competing at the Olympics
Jordan Chiles attended Beyonce's Renaissance tour stop in Houston and got so moved that she decided to bring tour-inspired leotards on the gymnastics mat. She executed her plan with GK Elite and competed at the 2024 US Olympic trials in those leotards.
“It inspired me so much that I literally went on her social media, went through her whole entire Instagram account to find these outfits. I was like, ‘I have to make a Beyoncé-themed Renaissance tour for gymnastics.’ “ (via Yahoo, August 2, 2024)
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during the Gold Over America tour, Chiles said that starring in a Beyonce video would be her choice since she already competed in two Olympic editions.
"I think it was like some Tik Tok they asked me or something like that they were like would you rather be starred in a Beyonce movie or do something with the Olympics. I was like you can give me that Beyonce video real quick, I've done the Olympic twice, give me that Beyonce video real quick," said Chiles. [0:22]
Chiles was a member of the gold-winning US women's gymnastics team at the 2023 Pan American Games. She also won silver in the vault and bronze in the all-around in that competition.
