Gabby Thomas has called out people for their racism after several users claimed on social media that she wasn't acting as a black woman. The Olympic medalist is an American by origin and was born to an African-American mother and a Jamaican father.

The 27-year-old gave a fitting reply to trollers on X after a user called out people for criticizing Thomas over ‘not acting black.’

"The stick that Gabby Thomas gets about “not acting Black” is nasty. You guys really need to unpack what you mean by that quickly," the fan said.

Thomas thanked the user for speaking on her behalf, and also clarified that she loved her ‘blackness’. She added that the assumptions were ridiculous.

"Thank you for this. Truly. I love my blackness, and this is getting to be ridiculous," she replied.

Gabby Thomas is coming on the back of a sensational victory at the London Diamond League. The Olympic champion was trailing behind a flying Dina Asher-Smith and Julian Alfred before catching them just a few meters before the finish line to win the race in 21.82s.

Following a dominant run in collegiate career, Gabby Thomas turned pro in October 2018. However, she said that she was shocked by the environment that she witnessed on the pro athletic circuit.

“When I first came on to the scene after college, I was a little bit shocked by how catty, divided and dramatic a lot of the environment could be,” she told the Guardian in an interview posted on Friday.

Thomas added that she slowly understood that it was because of the high level of competition.

"But it’s also a competition, so I understand that. I’d say a third of people grew up running together, or are in a training group, so they’re friends. A third of people really don’t like each other, and that’s just the nature of sports. And then a third just mind their own business and go their own way," Thomas added.

Thomas will be facing Shericka Jackson, Julian Alfred, Dina Asher-Smith, and Daryl Nieta as her biggest competitors for the 200m gold at the Paris Olympics. Although the American has the upper hand with a world-leading time behind her, it's nonetheless going to be an exciting battle in Paris.
