Carter Starocci recently issued a public challenge to A.J. Ferrari, just two weeks after Ferrari signed with the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team for the 2024-2025 season. Notably, Ferrari would continue in the same weight class, i.e., 197 lbs, in which he previously featured while representing the Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling team.

Meanwhile, Starooci had earlier announced in May through an Instagram post that he was returning to Penn State University for his fifth and final season in 2024-2025 after failing to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics via the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials.

Recently, Starocci not only announced his intention to move up a weight class to fight Ferrari but also outlined his conditions for the loser of the match - either getting a tattoo reading “Starocci is my NATTY DADDY” or changing their social media bio to “sorry girls, please forgive me! I have changed." Starocci took to his Instagram account to call out the newly joined member of the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team.

After Carter Starocci publicly criticized A.J. Ferrari with a long caption and ‘University of Nobody Wants You Certificate’ in one of his posts’ images and challenged him to put up $300,000 in a wrestling match, fans were quick to react.

One fan claimed that the Penn State wrestler’s callout was one of the best, stating:

“This has to be one of the greatest callouts of all time lmao”

Another fan suggested their admiration for a wrestling figure who is not only impressive because of their skills but also with words. They said:

“We love a wrestling icon who has a way with words”

Another fan, meanwhile, mentioned that it is bold of Starocci to even think that Ferrari would put up a good show at the All-Star Classic, set to be hosted by Penn State this time.

“Bold to assume AJ will even make it to All Star”

Here are some other reactions that the post generated -

Carter Starocci is a four-time NCAA wrestling champion, winning titles in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, in the 174 lb weight class. He is one of the seven collegiate wrestlers to have captured the NCAA title on four occasions. However, this time, Carter Starocci is aiming to become the most successful NCAA wrestler of all time by winning the fifth title during his final season.

On the other hand, A.J. Ferrari won the NCAA Division I Championships and Big 12 Championships last in 2021 in the 197 lb weight class while competing for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Following the sexual assault allegations, his wrestling career with the University came to an end.
