Usain Bolt stated a hard truth about time, sharing a clip of his twin sons, Saint Leo and Thunder Bolt playing. Bolt and his girlfriend Kasi Bennett welcomed their twins in June 2021.
Bolt, the world record holder in the 100m and 200m, retired from track and field in 2017. Since then, he has been carrying out the duties of a father after welcoming Olympia in 2020 and twin sons in 2021. Bolt's kids often feature in his and his girlfriend's social media posts, be it Christmas celebrations or fun family outings.
On January 19, 2025, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist shared a picture of his sons playing with airplanes and cars in the backyard while he watched over them. In his caption, he talked about utilizing time with purpose as long as it lasts.
"Time isn’t in endless supply, spend it with purpose!"
In an interview with Esquire in 2024, Usain Bolt revealed that he always planned for three kids and the birth of his twins made things easy.
"I wanted to have three kids, so having twins helped. I’m also glad that they are so close in age, it means that they’ll all be off to college at the same time, and I can get my life back!” he said.
Bolt last competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics, defending his 100m and 200m titles for the second consecutive time, the only sprinter to achieve such a feat.
Usain Bolt wished to have his world records intact until his kids grow up
Bolt, who is associated with sports even eight years into retirement, stays hopeful about his world records remaining unbroken. Despite being the most prominent in track and field, he is just a father to his kids.
In the aforementioned interview with Esquire in 2024, the 38-year-old expressed his wish to see his kids put some respect on his name when they know about their father's records.
"I’ve spoke to other athletes about this and what I’ve noticed with kids is that no matter how good or successful a sports person their parents are, they just don’t look up to you that way. Hopefully by the time that my kids are old enough to properly understand track and field, I will still have my world records, and so they will have to put some respect on my name!” he laughed and said.
Usain Bolt's resume has eleven World titles, alongside four Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, three BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year and IAAF World Athlete of the Year honors.
