Olympic wrestler David Taylor and his wife, Kendra Taylor, celebrated their eighth marriage anniversary, shortly after making the 2024 US World Team for the World Championships commencing on 28th October. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist competed at the 2024 US Olympic Trials, where he was defeated by four-time NCAA champion Aaron Brooks, missing his chance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After being named the Oklahoma State University head coach, the three-time World gold medalist in 86 kg, announced his retirement from competitive wrestling in May 2024. Though he missed the opportunity to compete at the 2024 Olympics, the former Nittany Lions standout announced his return from retirement to make the 2024 US World Team.
Taylor ousted Michael Macchiavello, Trent Hidlay, Marcus Coleman, and Zahid Valencia in back-to-back rounds at the World Team Trials, thus advancing to the World finals in October. Ahead of his most anticipated match-ups in the 92 kg category, the 33-year-old celebrated eight years of marriage with his wife Kendra.
In a recent Instagram post, David penned a short note for his wife Kendra, on the delightful occasion.
"8 years of marriage with my bestest buddy," he wrote.
In the picture, the couple donned OSU jerseys and posed at an Oklahoma State University game.
The Taylor couple welcomed their third girl daughter in January 2024. The Olympian posted some adorable pictures with a sweet caption on his Instagram.
"Welcome to the world baby Bird. As a kid, I envisioned a lot of things, but never thought I would be a dad to 3 beautiful girls! What a blessed life."
The 33-year-old has two other daughters, London and Ivy, who frequently cheer on their father during his matches.
David Taylor celebrated his family's shift to Stillwater after the Olympian joined Oklahoma as head coach
In May this year, David Taylor was hired as the eighth wrestling coach of OSU, replacing John Smith's successor, Coleman Scott, and currently the position of wrestling Head Coach with his brother-in-law, Jimmy Kennedy. In August, the former Nittany Lions athlete welcomed his family to his current home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where his journey with the Cowboys has begun.
"The rest of the fam is finally here! Excited to begin this next chapter of life with them in Stillwater," David wrote.
David Taylor offered glimpses of his life with his daughters and coaching sessions with the OSU wrestlers. One of his daughters was spotted cradling a puppy, matching his father's animal lover footsteps.
The family previously stayed in Pennsylvania, where the Nittany Lions alum trained at State College.
