Sha'Carri Richardson featured in a Nike NOCTA ad alongside American rapper Latto, running Mama’s Beauty Salon which offers “the fastest nail tech in town." The Olympic champion reportedly signed a million-dollar deal with the brand earlier this year.
While Latto is cast as the owner of “Big Mama’s Mini Market" in the commercial released on Tuesday, Richardson claims to be the proprietor of Mama’s Salon, promoting the new AF1 colorways and apparel, including NOCTA tech fleeces and towels.
The 2023 world champion claims to have the fastest nail tech in town and when a customer arrives in urgency, seven people appear to be ahead in the queue and so she asks her to wait. The customer insists before the sprinter shows off her speed and gets done with everyone within seconds, and then reminds her:
"I told you I am fast."
Richardson is known for her long and stylish nails as well as the blistering speed on track. The 24-year-old is the joint fifth fastest woman in history, having clocked 10.65s to win the 100m world title at the 2023 World Championships, where she was also spotted wearing Nike's Air Zoom Maxfly spikes.
"I don’t have any darkness weighing me down"- Sha'Carri Richardson feeling rejuvenated following the 2024 Paris Olympics
Sha'Carri Richardson's journey to stardom didn't start on a good note as she was forced to miss the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The American sprinter was 'weighed down' with repetitive doping questions by the media but following the successful past two seasons where she won a World and an Olympic title, she feels everything in her life is brighter now.
“I just feel like everything in my life is brighter now. I don’t have any darkness weighing me down, even within myself. I’m just at a different point in my life, where I’m not in survival mode—I’m in a loving energy. I love taking care of my family. I love taking care of my training partners. I just love the fact that I’ve been blessed to be in a position to show that divine energy," Sha'Carri Richardson told Essence in an interview.
Richardson won a silver medal in the women's 100m final at the Paris Olympics, clocking 10.87s for second place behind Julien Alfred who won the gold in 10.72s. The 24-year-old later anchored Team USA to the gold medal in the women's 4x100m relay with an iconic run.
