Merritt Beason recently expressed her gratefulness to the Nebraska Cornhuskers for allowing her to develop as a volleyball player. This comes just after the Huskers' victory against the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday (Nov. 23).

This was Beason's 18th win in the 2024 Big Ten Championships which allowed their unbeaten streak to remain intact in the tournament. Beason produced an impressive during the match and inflicted 11 kills, helping her team clinch a second win against Badgers within a month.

During the post-match interview, Beason mentioned the significance of the Cornhuskers and its coaching staff in allowing her to 'flourish' in the collegiate volleyball circuit. She said in an emotional tone (via Husker Extra):

"These girls took me in at a time when I hated volleyball and at a time when to be quite honest I hated volleyball. I didn't want to continue playing volleyball and wasn't super confident in Meritt as a human being and these girls and all the coaching staff took me in and allowed me to flourish."

She further added:

"I mean there's countless memories and history that was made but I think that alone is what I will forever be thankful for and something I didn't know if I would ever get back. Something in life you can't replicate in life afterwards, sports are something that very few people get to do this high level and they don't really understand but I mean it's something that I will never be able to fully explain."

Merritt Beason is currently in her second year with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and is also the current captain of the squad with Lexi Rodriguez. She joined the collegiate program last year after seeking a transfer from the University of Florida. She has been part of the AVCA All-American team in 2023 and the All-SEC team in 2022 with the Florida Gators.

Merritt Beason recently opened up about a chapter of her recruitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's Volleyball team.

In a recent interview, Beason revealed that the Cornhuskers didn't send her an invite to join the team. The 21-year-old also added that due to this reason, this program was not on her list. She said (via Husker Corner):

"They didn't even send me a camp invite. So I give Coach and Jalen a hard time all the time. But no, not at all. I, like I said, never got a questionnaire or anything. And so they weren't even really on the radar for me."

During the interview, Beason also mentioned that after she decided to join the collegiate program with the Huskers, she had a feeling that this was the correct place for her.
