Fresh off their Paris Olympic victories, Femke Bol along with Letsile Tebogo and other gold medalists will compete in the Lausanne Diamond League. The event is slated for August 22, 2024, at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Switzerland.
The Lausanne Diamond League will feature multiple events, including the 400m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 100m hurdles, long jump, high jump, and javelin throw. On that note, let's take a look at the five Paris Olympic gold medalists who will compete in the upcoming edition of the Diamond League.
#5 Femke Bol will compete in the Lausanne Diamond League after collecting three medals at the Paris Olympics 2024
Femke Bol had a noteworthy outing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She collected the set of medals after clinching a gold medal in the 4x400m mixed relay, running the anchor leg. Femke Bol went on to clinch a silver medal in the women's 4x400m relay and collected a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles, following Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Anna Cockrell.
Femke Bol will lock horns with Ayomide Folorunso, Louise Maraval, and the 'Jamaican quartet' of Andrenette Knight, Rushell Clayton, Janieve Russell, and Shiann Salmon in the 400m hurdles event at Lausanne Diamond League.
#4 Letsile Tebogo
Letsile Tebogo clinched Botswana's first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games after winning the 200m race with a timing of 19.46 seconds. He surpassed the American duo of Kenny Bednarek and Noah Lyles, who clocked 19.62 and 19.70 seconds, respectively.
Moreover, Tebogo also helped Botswana to a silver in the 4x400m relay event. The 21-year-old will compete in the men's 200m, vying against the likes of Fred Kerley, Erriyon Knighton, and Joseph Fahnbulleh in Switzerland.
#3 Grant Holloway
Grant Holloway added to his silver medal from Tokyo 2020 by winning the gold in the men's 110m hurdles. The 26-year-old clocked 12.99 seconds to defeat the likes of his fellow medalists Daniel Roberts and Rashid Broadbell, among others.
Roberts and Broadbell are among the athletes who will compete against Grant Holloway in the Lausanne Diamond League, which will take place at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.
It will be the 26-year-old's third Diamond League event of 2024, having previously won the 110m hurdles races at the Prefontaine Classic and the Monaco Diamond League.
#2 Quincy Hall
Quincy Hall displayed an electrifying performance in the 400m at the Paris Olympics to secure a gold medal. After lagging in fourth place throughout the race, the American athlete accelerated in the final 50m to cross the finish line first.
He surpassed Matthew Hudson-Smith in the final step of the race, clocking a striking 43.40 seconds, while the latter recorded 43.44 seconds. Hall will compete in the 400m alongside the silver medalist at the Lausanne Diamond League.
The 26-year-old has already competed in four Diamond League events earlier in 2024, winning the 400m race in Monaco.
#1 Cole Hocker
Cole Hocker will compete at the favorite to secure a win in the 1500m after securing a surprise win at the Paris Olympics. He defeated the two favorites Jakob Ingebrigsten and Josh Kerr to collect his first Olympic medal.
While Ingebrigsten and Kerr posted 3:28.24 and 3:27.79, the 23-year-old American clocked 3:27.65, which is a new Olympic record. He will again face Ingebrigsten in the 1500m at the Lausanne Diamond League, among other competitors.
