Yohan Blake recently expressed his dissatisfaction following a subpar performance at the 2024 Rabat Diamond League. Blake competed in the men's 100m event alongside Andre De Grasse, Rohan Watson, Pjai Austin, Emmanuel Eseme, and Jeremiah Azu.
Blake is a 100m world champion from 2011 and also secured a silver medal in the event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. After withdrawing from the Shanghai Diamond League due to a hamstring injury, the Jamaican stepped on the Grand State de Marrakech in Ouahat Sidi Brahim, Morocco on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
However, the four-time Olympic medalist struggled to display an above-average performance and settled in eighth place after clocking 10.41 seconds. Eseme, who replaced Blake at the Shanghai Diamond League after his withdrawal, dominated the 100m pack, registering a decent time of 10.11 seconds. He was followed by the Canadian favorite De Grasse, who clocked 10.19 seconds.
Azu finished in third place, recording 10.25 seconds. Blake took to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the performance, stating it was a "tough day in the office."
"Tough day in the office but, the fight continues," Blake wrote. "Life is all about fighting even when the odds are against you. Keep believing! Keep fighting! It’s never over until you’re dead. The fight is still on💪🏿 Thank you to everyone who has been here with me."
"On to the next," he added.
