Skye Blakely encountered an injury during her training on Wednesday ahead of the US Olympic trials at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The 19-year-old was finalizing her training ahead of her date with destiny before the unfortunate happened.

Following the potentially serious leg injury, the youngster had to be carried off the mat and placed on a wheelchair, where she was wheeled off the floor.

Skye Blakely was certainly in pain as she was in tears while being taken to the examiners. The 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Team Trials will commence on June 27 and conclude on June 30.

Skye Blakely also missed out on the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games US trials after injuring herself during vault warmups on the first night of competition.

Fans took to X and empathized with Blakely following the unfortunate encounter just before the trials.

Skye Blakely opened up about chasing her dreams and not letting any chances slip as she eyes the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In an interview with Olympics.com, the two-time world champion expressed her intentions of what she needed to do. She pointed out an error that cost her a medal from last year’s world championships.

"Beam… it’s a little harder to handle the pressure because four inches, you know? A lot of things can go wrong. I definitely do believe that I’m hard on myself… I try not to let one bad moment kind of get in the way of the big moment," Blakely said.
"The Worlds beam routine didn’t go how I wanted, but I feel like every time I compete, especially at a big meet, I’m growing and learning more every time."

In 2024, Blakely has been off to a great start where she finished second at the Winter Cup in February. The two-time Pan American Championships bronze medallist also won the balance beam title with a 14.500.

Blakely has also been in great form, finishing fifth overall at the U.S. Classic. With her impeccable performances this season, she has earned herself points to place in a great position for Olympic contention. However, with her injury setback, some have already started questioning whether she will be contesting.
