US sprinter Fred Kerley called his gold-winning race at the Silesia Diamond League 'trash' and announced his entry at the Rome Diamond League, which is scheduled for August 30, 2024. He clocked 9.87s in the 100m to claim victory over the likes of Ferdinand Omanyala and Ackeem Blake, who finished second and third respectively.
Fred Kerley competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics and clocked 9.81s in the 100m final to finish with the bronze medal behind Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson. The 29-year-old was part of the 4x100m relay team that reached the final but was disqualified due to a botch in baton handover.

Later, Fred Kerley called his race 'trash' in an X post and announced that the 2024 Rome Diamond League, scheduled for August 30, 2024, would be his next tournament.

In a post-race conversation with FloTrack, Kerley called his race 'sh***y' after not having run with the technicalities in mind.
"I know the race was sh***y as hell I just ran and not being technically sound.....but 987 is actually good," he told FloTrack [0.17].
