Stephen Nedoroscik's coach Syque Caesar claimed he was trying to be in the shoes of the gymnast while looking out for an agent for him. The American gymnast shot to fame at the 2024 Paris Olympics but didn't have an agent at the time.
Caesar was speaking during an appearance on the Neutral Deductions YouTube channel and hailed Nedoroscik's pommel horse routine in the team final as his best ever. The routine led Team USA to a historic bronze medal, and Nedoroscik to an overnight celebrity with brands on the lookout for his manager.
"I've never had two million followers so I was like you know US is blowing up, who's his agent? Like he doesn't have one right now? He needs one and I'm like he's got to compete tomorrow," he said. [1:18:30 onwards]
Caesar, who is an Olympian himself, let the gymnast focus on the pommel horse event final and started looking out for an agent himself. The 34-year-old explained that he tried to go with the agents who would vibe best with the Olympian.
"So I'm like meeting with different agents out there on behalf of Stephen, like just trying to feel the Stephen vibe like who's going to vibe the best with Stephen was how I was thinking about it. I'm also trying to like look out for him and be like someone who is gonna jibe with him is only going to make Stephen better," he added.
Stephen Nedoroscik won another bronze medal in the pommel horse final after an impressive routine earned him 15.300. After Caesar found the agent in coordination with him, he earned a call for season 33 of the Dancing With The Stars.
The 26-year-old was paired with Rylee Arnold and despite his minimal dancing skills, they impressed during the reality show and placed fourth in the Finale.
"A very surreal moment" - Stephen Nedoroscik described the moment he found out he had gone viral
Stephen Nedoroscik was the last to compete in the team final at the Paris Olympics, and all of the USA's hopes of winning a medal rested on him. The 26-year-old was calm under pressure and delivered a near-perfect routine to seal the first medal since 2008 for the USA men's gymnastics team.
Nedoroscik's performance went viral over the internet with his memes flooding the social media. However, he only found out hours after his performance after being informed by his girlfriend Tess McCracken.
"I sit down and my girlfriend Tess, she is like 'Steve, have you looked at your phone yet and I'm like no and she's like you have to open your phone right now, you were trending on Twitter (X) and I was like what the heck and I open my phone up and found out. I was like going crazy, what's happening in my life right now? So yeah that was a very surreal moment," Stephen Nedoroscik said.
With his bronze medal triumph in the pommel horse final, the 2021 World Champion was the lone male American gymnast to win an individual medal at the Games and will now be eager to win more at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
