U.S Olympic Team Trials Swimming Rankings: Katie Ledecky, Kate Douglas, and Regan Smith top the charts

The U.S Olympic Team Trials for swimming are right around the corner and will feature all of the nation's best swimmers in action as they vie for a spot on the team heading to Paris. In the women's end of things, Katie Ledecky, Kate Douglas, and Regan Smith are the trio expected to dominate at the trials, as the swimmers currently lead the rankings in 11 of the 14 events.

Ledecky, the most decorated female swimmer of all time, will head into the U.S Olympic Team Trials at Indianapolis as the top-ranked athlete in the 200, 400, 800, and 1500m freestyle. While she can expect to face some competition in the 200m, she is a shoo-in to take the top spot in the other three events at trials.

Meanwhile, Kate Douglass will head into the U.S Olympic Team Trials as the top-ranked swimmer in the 50 and 100m freestyle, the 200m breaststroke, and the 200m individual medley. A versatile threat, Douglass’ outings at the 2022, 2023, and 2024 World Championships have produced 14 medals across six different categories.

Last but not least, Regan Smith is the highest ranked American in the 100 and 200m backstroke, as well as the 200m butterfly going into the U.S Olympic Team Trials. Smith was previously the world record holder in both the 100 and 200m backstroke and remains a favorite to make the team in those events.

Elsewhere, Lilly King tops the charts for the 100m breaststroke, Torri Huske leads the 100m butterfly, and Katie Grimes spearheads the 400m individual medley rankings ahead of the U.S Olympic Team Trials.
