As the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials approach, the best athletes from the country will descend upon Eugene in a bid to book a ticket to Paris. The trials will pick three competitors in each category to send to the Games, which means there will be plenty of cutthroat competition.
In the women's 100m, the automatic qualification mark to race at the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials is 11.07, the same as the qualifying standard for the Games. So far, 19 US women have successfully clocked this time, including reigning World Champion Sha'Carri Richardson.
Richardson is a favorite to make the team, with the second and third spots seeing battles between the likes of Twanisha Terry, Tamari Davis, Talitha Diggs, Tamara Clark, and more.
Meanwhile, the men’s 100m at the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials will see equally impressive forces line up at Hayward Field. With 18 athletes having breached the 10.5 automatic qualification mark, the favorites remain World Champions Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman, and Fred Kerley.
Elsewhere, Grant Holloway is nearly guaranteed a spot on the men's 110m hurdles Olympic team. The Tokyo silver medalist will be hoping to upgrade the color of his medal this time around.
Another athlete nearly assured of making it to Paris after the U.S Olympic Team Trials is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. The hurdler won gold in the 400mH and 4x400m relay at Tokyo, and has an automatic qualification in the 400m and 110mH for the trials so far this year.
