The U23 Wrestling World Championships, which kicked off on Monday, October 21, 2024, concluded on Sunday, 27, 2024. Day 7 of the U23 Wrestling World Championships witnessed a few fierce bouts in the freestyle event.
Following the final showdown in the greco-roman and women's wrestling events on the first five days, Day 7 featured the final bouts in multiple categories for the freestyle event, including 57kg, 65kg, 70kg, 79kg, and 97kg. All the faceoffs were held at the Tirana Olympic Park in Tirana, Albania.
Iran emerged as the leader on the medal tally table with 14 medals, including six gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals. They were followed by the Individual Neutral Athletes with 21 medals (5 gold, 5 silver, and 11 bronze medals) and Japan with 13 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, and seven bronze medals).
The United States of America followed the Japanese squad with eight medals, including three gold, three silver, and two gold medals. On that note, let's take a look at the results of the men's freestyle events at the U23 Wrestling World Championships on Day 7.
U23 Wrestling World Championships 2024 Results for men's freestyle wrestling category
Indian wrestler Chirag Chikkara dominated the men's 57kg freestyle wrestling event on the final day of the Championships after defeating Kyrgyzstan's Abdymalik Karachov by victory over pints with 4-3. Individual Neutral Athlete Lunus Iavbatirov and Iran's Ali Momenijoujadeh collected the bronze medals in the category.
Momenijoujadeh pinned America's Maxwell Gallegher in the bronze medal bout after 8-0. Magomed Khaniev collected the gold medal in the men's 79 kg freestyle category after a fierce bout against Magomed Eltemirov, with the victory by points 5-4.
