Day 4 of the U23 Wrestling World Championships 2024 featured the final for the women's wrestling category. Day 4 of the Championships engaged the spectators with intense showdowns in Tirana, Albania.
The fierce bouts at the Championships are taking place at the Tirana Olympic Park from October 21 to 27, 2024. Day 4 saw the faceoffs in the women's wrestling in multiple categories, including 50kg, 55kg, 59kg, 68kg, and 76kg.
With more than 650 wrestlers across three events, including freestyle, greco-roman, and women's wrestling, Days 2 and 3 witnessed the final for men's greco-roman final. The freestyle and greco-roman events feature 240 wrestlers in each category and 184 wrestlers in women wrestlers. The finals for the men's freestyle event will be held on October 26 and 27, 2024.
Day 5 will feature the women's wrestling event for the remaining category, including 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 65kg, and 72kg. On that note, let's take a look at the results of the women's category event at the U23 Wrestling World Championships.
U23 Wrestling World Championships 2024 Results for Women's Category
American wrestlers Sage Mortimer and Yelena Makoyed dominated the women's wrestling event in the 50kg and 76kg categories, respectively. Mortimer defeated Natalia Pudova, representing Individual Neutral Athletes, with a victory by points 7-5.
Japan's Umi Ito and Ukraine's Natalia Klivchutska clinched the bronze medals in the same category after overpowering Laura Ganikyzy and Natallia Varakina.
The 76kg category was led by Makoyed after pinning down China's Shuiyan Cheng with a victory by fall of 8-0. Nadoka Yamamoto and Valeriia Trifonova secured the bronze medals in the category also by winning with a victory by fall 11-0 and 2-0 over Alina Yertostik and Zsofia Virag, respectively.
