Mondo Duplantis continued his domination at the Brussels Diamond League Trophy on Friday, September 13. His girlfriend Desire Inglander lauded him after the pole vaulter collected yet another title this year.
Duplantis had an incredible 2024 season with multiple wins and world records in various events, including the Paris Olympics and the Diamond Leagues. At the 2024 Summer Games, he soared to a height of 6.25m, creating a world record. He defeated Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis, who secured second and third places, respectively.
Following this, the Swedish athlete dominated the Lausanne Diamond League, where he soared to a height of 6.15m and trounced Sam Kendricks, who jumped to 5.92m. The 24-year-old did not stop there. Three weeks after setting a world record in Paris, Duplantis broke his own world record at the Silesia Diamond League, where he cleared the mark of 6.26m.
Continuing his victory streak, Mondo Duplantis closed his 2024 season by shining in the Diamond League finals in Brussels, where he again stood atop the podium by achieving a height of 6.15m. He defeated Emmanouil Karalis and Ben Broeder, who claimed second and third places, respectively.
Duplantis' girlfriend Desire Inglander praised him for winning all the events in 2024. She shared a video of Duplantis' performance on her Instagram story and wrote:
"2024 undefeated. 6.11m!"
Mondo Duplantis opens up about his win at the Brussels Diamond League
Mondo Duplantis capped his 2024 season with a victory in the Brussels Diamond League. During an interview with Olympics.com, he reflected on his 6.11m performance in the event. He expressed his satisfaction at the recent result and said he will now celebrate the successful season.
"With 6.11m, I got a good result but the world record wasn't meant to be tonight. It's not easy to do better each time," Mondo Duplantis said. "Everything needs to come together. I had some good jumps and I'm really happy about that. Now it's time to celebrate my beautiful season: I will drink some good Belgian beers tonight, for sure!"
Before competing in the Brussels Diamond League, Duplantis expressed in an interview that he would love to win at the Wanda Diamond League for the fourth time. He said (as quoted by Wanda Diamond League):
"I would love to win the Wanda Diamond League final a fourth time. I'm imagining what it would be like to stand on the podium with that diamond trophy. It's an important and special event that means a lot to me."
Now, the 24-year-old holds 10 world records. He set three world records this year, the first one coming at the Xiamen Diamond League on April 20.
