Usain Bolt shared an inspirational message as he fondly revisited the memories of his 16-year-old self when he was starting to represent Jamaica on the international stage. The Caribbean sprinter is now widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time and holds the world records in the 100m and the 200m events.
Bolt shared pictures of himself in the Jamaican youth jersey, likely from the 2003 World Youth Championships as he was 16 years old at the time. The eleven-time World Champion said he was just a normal kid with a dream at the time, and as he did achieve it in the following years, so could others.
"16 years old. A kid from Jamaica… with a big dream 🇯🇲 As I always say. Anything is possible - don’t think limits! #TBT 🥇," he said
Although he made his World Youth Championships debut in 2001, Bolt rose to prominence at the following edition of the event hosted in Jamaica. Running in front of a roaring home crowd, he won the 200m title to become the youngest world junior gold medallist in history in an impressive time of 20.61s.
The 39-year-old made his Olympic debut at the 2004 Athens Games but didn't win any medals after sustaining an injury in the first round. He would take the next edition of the Olympics by storm, running world records in the 100m and 200m events.
Bolt defended his 100m and 200m titles at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics while also winning two more gold medals in the 4x100m relay. He retired in 2017 and still holds the world records in both events.
