Jamaican sprinting legend Usain Bolt believes that his compatriot Oblique Seville, who beat Noah Lyles this year, could be a medal contender at the Paris Olympics if he stays healthy and fit for his race.
Seville, a 23-year-old sprinting prodigy from Jamaica, is a world championship silver medalist and currently ranks fifth in the men's 100m charts. He is one of Jamaica's most promising runners, and showed his talent during this year's Racers Grand Prix in June when he defeated reigning world champion, Noah Lyles, in a 100m face-off. He clocked a new personal best time of 9.86 seconds to secure the win at Kingston Stadium.
Following that, Seville participated at the Jamaican trials, where he recorded his new 100m personal best of 9.82 seconds in the finals to secure his ticket to the Paris Olympics 2024. That was also the fourth-fastest finish of the ongoing season. However, he was bested by Kishane Thompson, who finished the race in 9.77 seconds, setting the new best time of 2024.
Seville is gearing up for his second Olympic Games under the guidance of Glen Mills (Usain Bolt's former coach), and the runner was applauded by his compatriot and eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt on Thursday. Bolt said that Seville is one of the medal contenders for Jamaica if he stays fit. In a video shared by the Olympics on their Instagram handle, Bolt stated:
"If he can stay healthy, he's gonna cause a lot of problems. He's been just out of the medals every year in fourth place, he looks excellent and I know my coach, if he's preparing him and he's fit, he's gonna win for sure."
Usain Bolt dedicates a special anthem to Team Jamaica to cheer them on for the Paris Olympics

Usain Bolt is one of the most decorated track athletes in the world, having won 11 World Championships and eight Olympic titles for Jamaica. The four-time Olympian has created an anthem titled "Jamaica All The Way" to cheer for the Jamaican athletes at the Paris Olympics.
Speaking about his intentions behind the track, Bolt stated (via Sports Max):
"The Olympics represent a moment of pure joy, and I want our athletes to feel the support of all Jamaicans. This song celebrates their dedication and hard work. I produced it to encourage them to believe in themselves and dream big when they ‘Guh Fi Gold and Glory,’ knowing they have infinite support."
Bolt produced the song in collaboration with Busy Signal and Shaneil Muir, and it has been released on all the streaming platforms.
