The 2024 USATF U20 Championships will kick off on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Multiple track and field events, including high jump, long jump, triple jump, hammer throw, discus throw, 100m, 200m, 400m 1400m, and 800m will be held at the championships.
The two-day affair will conclude on June 13, 2024, with men's 110m and women's 100m hurdles. Top track and field athletes will represent their states, including Arizona, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Harvard, and Delaware. Athletes to watch out for at the 2024 USATF U20 Championships
The University of Dayton athlete Kendall Johnson, who recorded her personal best in the 200m indoor and outdoor, 300m indoor, and long jump (indoor and outdoor) will be seen competing at the 2024 USATF U20 in Eugene, Oregon. The freshman was awarded the R.U.D.Y.S. "Rookie of the Year" Award for her exceptional performance in the 2023-24 season.
Johnson became the first freshman and long jumper in University of Dayton history to ever qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She clinched the first place in the long jump with 6.23m at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University.
18-year-old Sophia Gorriaran will also compete in 800m and 1500m. On April 26, 2024, Gorriaran clocked an impressive time of 10:37.55 in the distance medley at Franklin Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She marked her personal best of 54.87 seconds in the 400m and 2:00.65 in the 800m at the Percy Beard Track, Gainesville, Florida (March 30, 2024) and the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track Facility in Lexington (May 25, 2024), respectively
She will be joined by fellow Harvard athlete Tito Alofe, who will compete in the men's high jump. Alofe secured fourth place in the men's high jump event at the recently held 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after clearing his personal best jump of 2.20m.
The Indian State athlete Ryan York will compete in the 3000m steeplechase in Eugene, after earning a spot to compete at the USATF U20 Championships during the Tennessee Invitational in April, with an impressive time of 9:16.11. He will be joined by Indian State sprinter Rachel Mehringer, who also qualified for the U20 Championships during the Tennessee Invitational, registering 13.63s in the women's 100m hurdles.
Josh Parrish, Jason Parrish, and Natalie Hill will represent the Wichita State track and field team at the USATF U20 Championships in 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and heptathlon events, respectively.
