Two-time ISSF World Championships gold medalist Yusuf Dikec recently opened up about his shooting style at the 2024 Paris Olympics which caught the attention of fans around the world. This comes just a few months after Dikec's successful Olympic campaign at the French capital.
Competing in Paris, Dikec clinched a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event along with his partner Sevval Ilayda Tarhan. They lost the gold medal to Serbia who finished the event with 16 points against Turkey's 14.
However, more than Dikec's silver medal at the quadrennial event, his unique style of putting one hand in his pocket while shooting was one of the major attractions of the Paris Olympics. Numerous celebrities, footballers, and athletes have copied Dikec's stance in their celebrations.
In a recent conversation with The Times of India, Dikec revealed the secret behind his style of putting one hand in his pocket. The 51-year-old said his style and approach are not something that he has thought of and are just a regular drill to him ever since he started shooting as he tries to keep everything 'simple'. He said:
"I like to keep things as simple as they can be... I got used to putting my hand in my pocket ever since I fired my first shot. I never realised that people would notice this and find this amusing.”
The 2024 Paris event was Yusuf Dikec's fifth Olympic Games and he succeded in turning it into a fruitful one by becoming the first Turkish shooter along with his partner to secure a medal at the Olympics. Dikec also competed in the men's 10m air pistol event but failed to secure a medal, finishing 13th.

Yusuf Dikec recently opened up about the advantages that are associated with his profession of shooting.
In the aforementioned interview, the 51-year-old said the advantage that shooting allows to be able to compete in tournaments irrespective of age is one of the best aspects of the sport.
He also said that he is aiming for further success at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, saying:
"That is the best aspect of the sport. You can participate without worrying about your age and continue till you want to... I am looking to make it bigger at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics."
Yusuf Dikec is currently in India where he is competing at the ISSF World Cup Finals 2024.
