The French rugby sevens team was seen dancing after creating history with their maiden victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They secured the gold medal after defeating Fiji.

The French team clinched the victory after leading with a huge gap of 28 - 7 over Fiji. The cash between the two teams was tied during the half time at 7-7. The host nation's men's rugby seven squad reached the finals after pinning down the South African team 19-5, While the powerhouse Fiji earned the berth to compete against the French men after defeating Australia 31-7 in the semi-final round.

Although both the teams leveled at 7-7 during halftime, Antoine Dupont's entry in the second half proved to be a boon for the French team. The beloved French rugby seven player withdrew from competing in the Six Nations tournament to compete alongside the national team in the French capital.

The French squad's victory became more significant as they denied the Fijian squad from securing their third consecutive Olympic medal. Following their historic feat, the team showed off their unique moves. The team's coordinated breakdancing performance on Will Smith’s “Miami” captivated the fans, who joined in the celebration.

The French rugby sevens team had to settle in seventh place at the 2016 Rio Olympics, after securing 3 wins and 3 defeats. To intensify the difficulties they fell short of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

While speaking to Olympics.com, Antoine Dupont emphasized the importance of the French rugby sevens team's recent victory, stating the significance of achieving the victory alongside his teammates. He also acknowledged the efforts put in by the team for a long time to secure the feat, which he described as the "cherry on the cake."

“It’s such a great honour to win this title and I have such great emotions," Dupont said. "It’s hard to describe. It is such a great thing to achieve with these boys. It’s really top of the list,” said Dupont. “We worked so hard for so long to do this. This is just the cherry on the cake.”

The South African squad defeated Australia 26-19 to secure a bronze medal in Paris.
