Gabby Thomas was recently seen building a dog house for her beloved pet Rico along with boyfriend Spencer McManes. The three-time Olympic medalist, who lives in Austin, Texas, with her boyfriend owns an adorable Pug.
Thomas has had Rico since 12 August 2020. The American sprinter also handles her dog's own social media profile, the bio of which says "Lover of (short) walks and pup cups" and "World’s Fastest Pug".
The accounts feature the adventures of the sprinter's dog, including him going for a car ride, watching other dogs' videos, attending Thomas' training sessions, attending pug parties, and flaunting his owner's three Olympic gold medals.
Recently, Thomas was seen building a small and sweet dog house right from the start. She shared this process with her fans on social media. The couple opted to build a DIY house by following the instruction manual. They were seen building the house with a wood structure, walls and doors of glass.
Following the completion of the structure, Thomas gave an update saying:
"It sure is a lot of work."
Agreeing to this, McManes said:
"It sure is."
The video ends with Thomas putting the nameplate on the house and Rico enthusiastically entering it.
"To be here and follow in her footsteps is such an honor" - Gabby Thomas takes pride in becoming the first American woman to win the 200m at the Olympic Games since Allyson Felix
Gabby Thomas became the first American female athlete to secure a gold medal in the 200m at the Olympic Games since Allyson Felix in the 2012 London Games.
In Paris, Thomas dominated the event with an impressive time of 21.83 seconds to defeat Julien Alfred and Brittany Brown, who posted 22.08 and 22.20 seconds.
Speaking to Olympics.com, Thomas took pride in repeating the same victory as the legendary sprinter, stating Felix has been her childhood inspiration.
“Being the first woman to win the 200m gold since Allyson Felix in 2012 is such a great feeling because I have looked up to her for so long, ever since I was a child,” Thomas said. “She’s such great representation, but I still never imagined that I would be quite in that exact position.
She added:
“So, to be here and follow in her footsteps is such an honor, not only because of what she does on the track and her performances but what she does off the track and what that means for myself and other young girls.”
Along with a 200m victory, Gabby Thomas also secured gold medals with the team in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay races.
