Gabby Thomas proved her prowess on Day 6 of the US Olympic Track and Field trials, which is inching towards its conclusion on June 30. She qualified for the 200m finals after clocking a world lead in the semi-finals of the event and bested Sha'carri Richardson's mark.

Thomas is geared up to make her second Olympic appearance in Paris after the Tokyo Games. In the 2020 Summer Games, the 27-year-old won one silver in the 4x100m and a bronze in the 200m discipline. In the 2024 trials, she was also scheduled to compete in the 400m event; however, she withdrew from the same, just a day before the commencement of the competition.

On Day 6 of the trials, Thomas hogged the spotlight as she ran a world lead in the 200m semi-finals and bested Sha'Carri Richardson, who had already sealed her spot in Paris in the 100m dash. She advanced to the finals by posting a blistering speed of 21.78s in heat 3, and Richardson, on the other hand, equaled her personal best of 21.92s in heat 1 of the trials.

NBC Olympics & Paralympics shared the video of heat 3 of the 200m semi-finals on X, where Thomas was seen cruising toward victory and leaving her contenders behind by a notable margin. The post read:

"GABBY THOMAS SENDS A MESSAGE. Fastest time in the WORLD this year in her 200m semi!"
