Gabby Thomas opened up about why she chose track and field as her career
Gabby Thomas recently appeared in an interview with New Balance, where she spoke about why she chose track and field as her career. She emphasized on the positive aspects of the sport, stating that there is always room for improvement, and also emphasized the fact that an athlete is always competing against themselves in track.
"I think I ended up choosing track because you can always get better you can always improve, you can always be a better athlete, be a better version of yourself and that's such a beautiful thing about track and field. We can count medals and we can count wins but you're always kind of racing yourself so, I fell in love with that," Gabby Thomas said.
The American athlete also once revealed in an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that her mother forced her to choose track and field, as the 27-year-old initially wanted to choose softball. Gabby Thomas now has a total of five Olympic medals, as she won one silver medal and one bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and three gold medals in the Paris Olympics.
