Norway's reigning Olympic champion, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, was recently spotted training for his 2025 season with fellow Norwegian middle and long-distance runner Magnus Tuv Myhre. Ingebrigtsen, Tuv Myhre, and the former's elder brother Henrik Ingebrigtsen began their altitude practice sessions together a few weeks ago.
In August, Jakob Ingebrigtsen won a 5000m gold at the Paris Olympics and maintained his exceptional form at the Lausanne Diamond League. He defeated America's current 1500m Olympic champion, Cole Hocker, setting a meet record with a time of 3:27.83. In September, Ingebrigtsen's 2024 season came to a close at the Copenhagen Half Marathon, where he finished in 34th place.
Following that, Ingebrigtsen began his preparations for the 2025 season, where he will be competing in the World Athletics Championships to defend his 5000m gold in September. He was also joined by his elder brother Henrik Ingebrigtsen, the 2012 European champion, and Magnus Tuv Myhre, the silver medalist from the 2023 European Cross Country Championships.
Taking to his Instagram handle, the Sandnes native shared a video from his training session, capturing him running down a road with Tuv Myhre chasing after him.
"Up & down." He wrote in the caption
"I want to challenge world records at all distances" - Jakob Ingebrigtsen backs himself to achieve something extraordinay in the near future
In August, Jakob Ingebrigtsen made history at the Silesia Diamond League by breaking the men's 3000m world record with a time of 7:17.55. With this, he surpassed Kenyan runner Daniler Komen's 28-year-old longstanding record of 7:20.67 in that distance. Reflecting on this achievement, the 24-year-old said:
"It feels special, amazing. I was hoping to challenge the world record here, but based on my training, I can never predict exactly what kind of time I am capable of. I would not have imagined I could run 7:17, though."
He also expressed his confidence in aiming for world records across all distances, adding:
"Now I want to challenge world records at all distances, but it is one step at a time."
Jakob Ingebrigtsen competed at this year's Paris Olympics in an attempt to defend his 1500m gold from the Tokyo Games but finished fourth in the finals with a time of 3:28.24.
However, he went on to claim his second Olympic gold in the 5000m event, winning the race with a time of 13:13.66. The victory made Ingebrigtsen only the third long distance runner in history to win Olympic gold medals in both the 1500m and 5000m.
