Jasmine Camacho-Quinn became the first winner of the Athlos NYC's debut edition by defeating Paris Olympics gold medalist Masai Russell in the 100m hurdles events. Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian's Athlos NYC kickstarted with 100m hurdles on Thursday, 26 September 2024, at Icahn Stadium in New York City.
Camacho-Quinn achieved the victory after clocking an impressive 12.36 seconds to surpass Alaysha Johnson and Masai Russell, who clocked 12.43 and 12.44 seconds, respectively. They were followed by Tonea Marshall with 12.51 seconds, Danielle Williams with 12.56 seconds, and Charisma Taylor with 13.58 seconds.
Russell dominated the 100m hurdles event at the Paris Games by clocking a spectacular 12.33 seconds to leave behind Cyrena Samba-Mayela and Camacho-Quinn, who posted 12.34 and 12.36 seconds, respectively.
Avenging her loss at the Olympics in a dramatic rematch at the Athlos NYC, Camacho-Quinn dominated the race right from the beginning by displaying a strong start. She held her lead until the finish line, earning herself a Tiffany crown.

With the glorious victory, Camacho-Quinn bagged the whopping prize money of $60,000, with Johnson and Russell claiming $25,000 and $10,000, respectively.

Following her appearance at the debut edition of Alexis Ohanian's Athlos NYC, Masai Russell will also be seen at Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track.
The American hurdler will be joined by Cyréna Samba-Mayela and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn too. The trio will go head-to-head against each other for a lucrative prize money of $100,000.
In an interview with Runnerspace.com, Russell expressed her excitement about signing for the event, appreciating the clear vision of the league.
"Signing with Grand Slam Track is a great moment for me personally and professionally,” said Russell. “The vision for this league is clear - putting fans and athletes first, and that’s something I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of. Coming off the Olympics, I want to continue regularly competing at the highest level, against the best in the world, and I’m certain that Grand Slam Track is the place for that."
The GST will host four meets, kickstarting from April 2025.
