Former Nebraska Cornhuskers player Lexi Rodriguez was recently spotted in the practice sessions with her new team, LOVB Omaha. Her side will be in action on Friday (Jan. 10) at the Fort Bend County Epicenter against Houston.
Rodriguez concluded her Nebraska career last month after the team's defeat at the NCAA Championships. Following this, the Illinois native has joined forces with her new side which also comprises several Nebraska teammates such as Justine Wong-Orantes and Madi Kubik.
Amidst training with her new teammates in a LOVB Omaha t-shirt, Rodriguez also expressed her excitement about joining the team as she started a new journey. She mentioned her 'crazy' feelings about starting her professional volleyball career. Rodriguez said during a conversation amidst training (via LOVB Omaha Instagram handle):
"It's been a whirlwind of emotions because obviously I am ending one journey and starting the next and just being able to call myself a professional, it's just really crazy that coming alive ultimately like being here and being in the gym, it's been amazing so I am just super excited to get started"

Rodriguez had a superb tenure with the Nebraska Cornhuskers as its libero and was also the Big-10 conference's best defensive player three times in 2021, 2022 and 2024. Notably, she is also a finalist for the prestigious Honda Award 2024.
Lexi Rodriguez opens up about her dream of representing her national side at the Olympics
Lexi Rodriguez recently shed light on her dream to represent the United States at the Olympics. This comes just a month after she joined the LOVB Omaha volleyball side.
The former Nebraska libero revealed her dream of joining the US national team and eventually competing in the Olympics. She also added that LOVB will give her a perfect opportunity to achieve this dream especially with the top players she will be competing with on the side. She said (via Footboom):
"I aspire to join the national team and ultimately compete in the Olympics. LOVB presents a fantastic platform for me to launch my professional career, especially with seasoned players surrounding me."
During the conversation, Lexi Rodriguez also heaped praise on LOVB as a league for providing professional opportunities to collegiate players. While Rodriguez chose LOVB as her professional platform, several of her other teammates such as Merritt Beason joined the Pro Volleyball Federation.
