The 2024 Diamond League Finals are all set to take place in Brussels, Belgium on 13th and 14th September, and global stars from across the world are ready to grace the event. Mondo Duolantis, Anna Cockrell, Christian Coleman, and Julien Alfred are some of the notable stars who would be arriving at the venue on Wednesday, September 11.
The first meet of the 2024 Diamond League season took place in Xiamen, China on April 20. The event saw several stars make their season debuts as Duplantis soared to a world record of 6.23m while Sha'Carri Richardson lost in the 200m dash. The next meeting was scheduled a week later in Shanghai.
Each year, 14 Diamond League meets take place across several continents where athletes are rewarded with cash prizes and points to qualify for the finals. Following this year's 14 events, the Diamond League Finals are all set to take place in Brussels, Belgium.
Ahead of the event, several athletes from across the globe were spotted arriving at the venue in style. Pole vault Olympic champion and world record holder Mondo Duplantis arrived on Wednesday, September 11, and will look to win his fourth consecutive Diamond League Title.
Track stars Fred Kerley, Christian Coleman, Tonea Marshall, Mathew Hudson-Smith, and Cole Hocker were also spotted arriving at the Allianz de Memorial.
Each Diamond League Finals winner is awarded a prize money of $50,000. While Olympic medalists will be looking to end their seasons on a high, those who couldn't medal would look for some redemption in Brussels.
Is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone competing in the Diamond League Finals in Brussels?
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is competing at the Brussels Diamond League 2024 but not in the Finals. The Olympic champion was initially announced to compete in the Finals but was found to be ineligible, which resulted in two special races being announced for the 25-year-old.
McLaughlin-Levrone will compete in the women's 200m and the 400m Invitational races. The 400m race will take place on 13th September minutes before the actual Diamond League Final race of women's 400m and a similar schedule has been announced for the women's 200m, which takes place on the following day.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist has also arrived at the Allianz de Memorial for her first appearance after the Paris Olympics 2024. McLaughlin-Levrone has expressed hopes of setting new personal bests in the 200m and the 400m in Brussels.
