Mondo Duplantis proposed to his longtime girlfriend Desire Inglander during their Vogue Scandinavia shoot in East Hampton, New York and it's a 'yes' from the Swedish model. The couple met at a party in 2020 for the first time and after some months of efforts from the pole vault world record holder, the couple embarked on a romantic relationship.
Duplantis met Inglander at a Midsummer party in Sweden and wanted to set up a date with the model. However, she wasn't interested as per Duplantis, who told PEOPLE in August:
"So at the party, I was just trying to talk to Desiré, like ‘Hey, what’s up, I’m Mondo...’ but she didn’t want anything to do with it or me. She just wanted to dance," he recalled (via People)
The Olympic champion kept making efforts in the following months before Inglander agreed to a date one day.
Four years later, Duplantis surprised the model with a ring on a sandy beach in East Hampton, and this time, she didn't take time to say the 'yes'.
The couple was shooting for Vogue Scandinavia when Duplantis brought out the ring from his pocket, and Inglander first thought it was a joke. But when she realized the seriousness of the moment, she said:
“Oh my god, yes.”
On the other hand, Duplantis claimed he was 'frozen' during the moment despite having prepared for it for months.
“I can safely say it’s the most nervous I’ve been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze,” Duplantis said.

“Desiré brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing," Mondo Duplantis said
Inglander was there to support the 24-year-old at the Paris Olympics 2024 when he won the gold medal. Duplantis broke the world record as well and the first thing he did after that was to run towards his girlfriend in the stands.
