On July 26, 2024, Nadia Comaneci was spotted walking down the red carpet as she entered the city of Paris. The gymnastics legend was seen donning a golden outfit as she stunned the crowds gathered for the 2024 edition of the Summer Olympic Games.
Nadia Comaneci was seen heading to the Louvre Museum, one of the most prestigious places housing the most pristine artworks across different time periods. The Romanian gymnast tweeted a video on her X handle, where she could be seen smiling and waving at the cameras.
“Red carpet arrival #PARIS2024 dinner #Louvre,” Comaneci wrote.
Comaneci and several other imminent global personalities were invited to the Louvre by IOC President, Thomas Bach for a dinner on the eve of Paris 2024. Notably, Comaneci is renowned for being the first-ever gymnast to receive a perfect score of ten in a performance while she was just 14 years old.
Her impressive resume also includes four more perfect tens at the same event, which earned her three golds in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam competitions. She was one of the first gymnasts to join the gymnastics school, Onești, set up by the then-US gymnastic coach, Bela Karolyi, who developed a centralized Romanian system with his wife, Marta.
The former competitive gymnast has nine European Championship golds, two World titles, and two World Cup wins on her wall of fame.
Nadia Comaneci on her mindset that earned her medals at the Olympic Games
Nadia Comaneci became the first Romanian gymnast to win the all-around Olympic title. In an exclusive interview with "Olympics.com", she talked about adding her personal touch to the routines that each gymnast had to follow 'by the book'. She dubbed it the 'Nadia touch', which she feels set her apart from other gymnasts.
"What does it mean to be better because everybody will do the same thing. Like, what can I add to that? I call it the Nadia touch. I added amplitude to every skill, so it looks like in the book, but I just added a little something. It was my personal touch," she said.
Adding that the Olympics took place quadrennially, Comaneci remarked that there was little scope for committing mistakes.
"I didn’t even think about the score,” she said later. “I was more into not making a mistake because the Olympics are every four years, just trying to concentrate on what I have to deliver in that minute and 20 seconds. That was the only thing that was in my head," she added. (via Olympics.com)
Nadia Comaneci will be a key figure at the 2024 Games and a source of inspiration for all the gymnasts aiming for the gold medals.
