Noah Lyles was majestic in the men’s 200m semifinal where he won his respective heat in a world-leading time of 19.60 at the US track and field Olympic trials. Lyles showcased class as he took top honors in his respective heat, crossing the finish line in surprise.

In a video shared by NBC Sport, Noah Lyles was seen having a steady start from the blocks where he took charge, clearing competition from the outside lanes. In the final straight before the finish line, Lyles emerged in the lead at the bend and led through to the finish line.

Christian Coleman came close to Lyles but could not match the momentum from the triple-world champion and was forced to finish second in 19.89. Robert Gregory rounded up the podium with an impressive 19.98.

Noah Lyles' younger brother, Josephus Lyles, missed out on the podium bracket after finishing fourth in 20.37 and will not be advancing to the final of the 200m.

The time Lyles clocked is the fastest in the semifinal but the task doesn’t end there since he has his work cut out in the final where he will face off against a formidable field.

World indoor 60m champion Coleman will be out to book a slot in the Olympics in an individual event after missing out on a ticket in the men’s 100m.

Noah Lyles will also be up against Kenny Bednarek, Erriyon Knighton, Courtney Lindsey, and Kyree King in the fight for top honors.

However, he remains a favourite in the field having had a great start to his season. He won the 200m at the USATF New York City Grand Prix before proceeding to the US Olympic trials where he raced his second 200m of the season in the preliminaries where he won. The semifinal marks his third 200m of the season.

Noah Lyles is yet to win the gold medal in the 200m at the Olympic Games and he will be out to change the narrative this season.

Noah Lyles seems unbothered by Kishane Thomspon’s impressive start to his season where he clocked a personal best time of 9.82 to win the preliminaries at the Jamaican Olympic trials.

Thomspon’s time is a message to all his rivals including Lyles who seems to be confident of his abilities. The time the youngster clocked was better than what Lyles managed in the final of the US trials.

In a post-race interview with Citius Magazine, the American sprint king was asked about the Jamaican sprinters and informed about the time Thompson had posted. In reply, he said:

"I want to see what they do, I am trying to see something. Alright nice...Let's hope he (Thompson) stays healthy."

Meanwhile, Lyles stopped the clock at 9.83 to win the final of the 100m at the US trials ahead of Kenny Bednarek and Fred Kerley who clocked 9.87 and 9.88 respectively to book their tickets to the Olympics.
