In 2024, Schmidt played a crucial role in earning a Paris Olympics quota for Germany in the mixed team 4x400m relay by participating in the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas. At the Paris Olympics, she represented Germany, competing in the women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x400m heats.
Following her Paris Olympics campaign, Schmidt reflected on her performance at the quadrennial games via Instagram.
“The Olympics are not just about winning medals. It‘s about being alongside inspiring athletes while competing at the highest level. Showing ambition, celebrating diversity and people no matter who they are and where they are from…As an athlete I am still not where I want to be and maybe I will never be. But the one thing that is for sure: I will never stop trying and figuring out ways to improve.”
Schmidt concluded her 2024 track season with her participation at the ISTAF Berlin where she finished third in the 600m, clocking a 1:24.88. Besides being a 400m runner, Schmidt is also known for having a massive following on Instagram and TikTok, which has contributed significantly to her popularity.
"Sometimes it not that easy": Alica Schmidt on balancing life as a track athlete and social media influencer
Alica Schmidt opened up on the social media aspect of her life and how she balances her role as a track athlete and social media influencer. In an interview with OIympics.com in 2022, she said:
“Sometimes it's not that easy."
Schmidt emphasized that she prioritized track over social media, adding:
“The training is, of course, the main focus and all other things come behind that.”
However, Schmidt mentioned that she liked her hobby of maintaining social media, saying:
“But I also love to do some model jobs or take people with me on social media. It's a big hobby of mine and I love to do that.”
The runner also mentioned how social media helped in earning sponsors which contributes to making a living, which is otherwise difficult for an athlete in Germany.
