Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been spotted training ahead of her final professional race at the Paris Olympics 2024. She has already arrived at the French capital as she gears up for track and field action from August 1 to 11.

She is a part of the women’s 100m only in team Jamaica, as she plans to exit the sport on a high.

Fraser-Pryce will enjoy the company of two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson and 19-year-old Tia Clayton in the quest for title defense.

Elaine Thompson-Herah won the two previous titles, at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and the pressure will be on Jamaica to deliver.

In a video shared on X by Travis Miller, the NBC Sports Director of Social Media, the three-time Olympic champion is seen starting from the blocks in great fashion, oozing readiness for her last dance.

The video was captioned:

Fraser-Pryce has raced sparingly this season, having a late season opener at the JAAA Olympic French Foray 3 where she won in 11.15.

She then proceeded to the Jamaican Olympic trials, winning the preliminaries in 10.98 ahead of the semifinal where she won in a time of 10.91.

The 10-time world champion finished third in the final, clocking 10.94 to cross the finish line and seal her ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Two-time world 100m silver medallist Shericka Jackson is saddened by the news that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will not be competing following the conclusion of the Paris Olympics.

Jackson noted that Fraser-Pryce will always be an inspiration to young sprinters and the fact that the 37-year-old is also able to run at her age is something to be in awe of. She added that Fraser-Pryce is a depiction of bouncing back after having a baby.

Jackson also said that competing with Fraser-Pryce in the same races is something she never takes for granted as she looks to compete with her for one last time in Paris.

"The first time I saw Shelly run was in 2008 at the Olympics and she has been amazing since and to be at this age where she is so old and is running so fast after having her son is something inspirational to many especially those who have a baby and want to come back. I think that opened their eyes to know that after a baby you still can do it," Jackson told the media.
"It might not work for everybody but it definitely worked for her and I think she inspired so many mums that went and had their babies and there are so many who came back and are doing amazing. I’ve always watched her run and to be in a race with her cause we were with her at the Olympics, we were with her at the World Championships twice and it’s just something amazing," she added.

Fraser-Pryce won the 100m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics and will be out to repeat the same exploits in Paris.

She faced an injury scare before the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern in Switzerland but from her training video, she might just pull something great.
