Three-time Olympian Simone Biles of the United States flaunted her new GOAT necklace after winning her second individual all-around Olympic title and the sixth Olympic gold medal of her career at the ongoing Paris Games.
Biles claimed the first individual title of the Paris Olympics after scoring 59.131 in the all-around finals. She kicked-off the event with a vault apparatus, where she scored 15.766 while landing a smooth Yurchenko double pike. However, she fell behind her rival Rebeca Andrade in uneven bars when she went too high on her Pak salto transition and ended up scoring 13.733, while Andrade led the scoreboard with 14.666 in uneven bars.
However, the Ohio native made a solid comeback on the balance beam, where she scored 14.566. Then came the deciding apparatus, the floor exercise, in which Biles has one of the toughest routines in the world. She scored 15.066 on the floor exercise and won her second gold medal of the Paris Olympics.
With the victory, Simone Biles became the oldest all-around champion since 1952, and only the third female gymnast to bag two all-around Olympic titles, and the first since 1968. With the ninth Olympic medal in her kitty, Biles has taken her combined world champion and Olympic medal tally to 39. The 27-year-old American champion was seen showcasing her new necklace with a GOAT (Greatest of All Time) pendant in it. Sharing the video of the same Brian T. Smith, the US Sports Writer at talkSPORT wrote:
"Simone Biles holding up a sparkling GOAT necklace after winning a historic gold is definitely peak 2024."
Reportedly, Biles received the necklace from her teammate, Jordan Chiles, who gifted it to her after the floor exercise event.
