American gymnast Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens, mother Nellie Biles, and family members reacted to the four-time Olympic champion’s performance on vault at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Biles concluded her day with the best performance among all gymnasts, scoring 58.900 points overall.

NFL football safety for Chicago Bears, Owens, and other family members were caught in the stands cheering for Simone. They also donned USA Gymnastics' World Champions Centre (WCC) t-shirts. In addition, Biles’ one-year-old niece was also among the attendees as the baby girl was captured wearing a leotard-like outfit.

After Simone Biles displayed a phenomenal vault routine by executing a Yurchenko double pike on Day 1 of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, she received a standing ovation from the entire crowd, including Jonathan Owens, Nellie Biles, and other family members. One can watch the video here.

On Day 1, Biles leads the overall scores, topping the vault and floor exercise routines by collecting 15.975 points and 14.850 points. Behind Biles are Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee with all-around scores of 56.400 and 56.025 points.

Following the completion of day 1, Jonathan Owens took to his Instagram story to comment on Biles’ overall performance on Day 1 of the trials, stating:

“Good lead going into Day 2!!! 🙏”

The four-time Olympic gold medalist will be aiming for her third Olympic Games in Paris by producing yet another remarkable show on Day 2 of the trials, scheduled on June 30.

Inspired by Simone Biles' consistency, Nellie Biles strives to incorporate the same routine into her lifestyle

After getting diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, Simone Biles’ mother Nellie Biles recently shared in an interview with The Healthy how she takes inspiration from Simone Biles’ consistency in her sport to try to keep herself fit, stating:

“I will say that what I admire is the fact Simone is consistent and she’s dedicated to her sport. So when I’m watching her, I can see that she is achieving her goal with that dedication and with that consistency.”

She added:

“So, I sort of try to mirror that with what I do in terms of my lifestyle to make sure that I myself am also consistent - with my eating habits and my exercise, with making sure that I follow up and consult with my physician to make sure that I again achieve my goals, which would be to maintain my A1C level.”

Notably, Simone and her younger sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie Biles, her maternal grandparents, in 2001, after Simone’s mother couldn’t take care of them.
