The seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles kicked off the team event finals at the Paris Olympics in style as she landed a stupendous Cheng vault in the finals.

Biles, a four-time Olympic champion, started her team event finals campaign on Tuesday, July 30, with the vault event, where she executed a two-footed hop-back Cheng Vault in the first rotation. The 27-year-old gymnastics icon produced a total of 14.900 in the apparatus with a difficulty level of 5.600 and an execution score of 9.300.

After rotation 1, the United States stands at the top of the table with a score of 44.100. The People's Republic of China is in second place with 42.666 points, while Italy occupies the third spot with a score of 41.665.

Biles' teammate, Jade Carey, rebounded impressively from her unfortunate floor exercise fall in qualifiers to deliver a strong performance on vault in rotation one. She closely trailed her illustrious teammate with a score of 14.8. Jordan Chiles also contributed to the team's vault score, earning a 14.4 with a flawless double-twisting Yurchenko.

In the finals, where Team United States is eyeing gold, Biles looked calm and focused after leading her team to a top finish at the Subdivision 2 qualifying rounds on Sunday, July 28.

A video of her vault routine from the finals was shared by NBC Sports on their X handle, along with the caption,

Simone Biles is determined to redeem herself after her disappointing Tokyo Olympics, where she had to withdraw from multiple events due to a mental block known as 'the twisties.' Similarly, the entire American team seeks to rebound from their Tokyo loss, where they were edged out of the gold medal by the People's Republic of China, ultimately securing silver with a score of 166.096 in the team finals.

As Simone Biles and her teammates vied for gold in the finals, a star-studded crowd gathered at the Bercy Arena. Luminaries such as 23-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps, tennis icon Serena Williams, and Academy Award winner Natalie Portman were among those in attendance, offering their support to Biles and the entire gymnastics team.
