Simone Biles and USA Gymnastics have landed in Paris ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics. The team had their first training session on 19 July as the seven-time Olympic medalist mesmerized again with a stellar balance beam routine.

Biles is eying redemption at the Paris Olympics, and she has announced it publicly as well. The 27-year-old was all set for another historic Olympic campaign in Tokyo before ‘twisties’ forced her to withdraw from multiple finals.

The most decorated gymnast has dominated the domestic competitions in the lead-up to the Olympics and is a favorite for multiple gold medals in Paris. Biles and USA are slotted in Subdivision 2 and will be seen in action on July 28.

The USA Gymnastics team had their first practice session in Paris on July 19. All the gymnasts, both men and women, were spotted doing some basic workouts before taking to their respective routines.

In a video posted by USA Gymnastics, Simone Biles was spotted making a huge vertical jump before making a perfect landing on the balance beam. She then jumped to another big height while performing a switch split ring leap.

Earlier in the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials, Biles had jumped a staggering 12ft. in the air during a floor routine. The Olympic champion had jumped 2 ft. above the standard height of the basketball rim, leaving fans guessing if she could do a dunk as well. However, the gymnastics floor is made of trampoline, and Biles’ elevation was largely because of that.

After everything that happened at the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles took a long break from the sport to focus on her mental health. Although she's back to her best now, she didn't think she would compete at the Paris Olympics because of 'twisties'.

"I never pictured going to another Olympic Games after Tokyo, just because of the circumstances. I never thought I would go back in the gym again, be twisting, feel free,” Biles told reporters at the US Olympic Trials (via HoustonPublicMedia).

Biles received an equal amount of support and criticism following her withdrawal from the Olympics, with some even calling her a ‘quitter’. The 27-year-old said that the team's performance in Tokyo wasn't the best, but they are ready to prove themselves as better athletes than they were in 2021.

“This is definitely a redemption tour. I feel like we all have more to give. Our Tokyo (Olympics) performances weren't the best. We weren't under the best circumstances either, but I feel like we have a lot of weight on our shoulders to go up there and prove we are better athletes and more mature and smarter and we are more consistent," Biles said (via GymnasticsNow on X).

Simone Biles is joined by reigning all-around champion Suni Lee, floor champion Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera in the five-member team. They will look to claim the team gold in Paris after settling for silver in Tokyo.
