The most decorated artistic gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, is back on the mat, and she recently astounded her fans during the floor exercise routine at the U.S. Core Hydration Classic training. The cherry on top of her spellbinding routine was a Taylor Swift moment.
The event is set to commence on Saturday (May 18), where 50 gymnasts will be lined up to stand on the podium. Besides Biles, the XL Center, Hartford, Connecticut-hosted event will feature Olympic champions like Suni Lee, Gabby Douglas, Jade Carey, and Olympic silver medalist Jordan Chiles. Other than them, the other female athletes will be Shilese Jones, Skye Blakely, Kayla DiCello, Joscelyn Roberson, Leanne Wong, and Lexi Zeiss.
The gymnasts have already started brushing up on their routines ahead of the big night, as evidenced by a clip posted by Gymnastics Now on Friday in which Simone Biles can be seen practicing the floor exercise.
The caption reads:
"Seems fitting we get a little Taylor Swift moment in Simone’s new floor set Also, that DROP into the wolf turn #CoreClassic"
Taylor Swift's moment here refers to the pop icon's song 'Ready for It?' playing in the background as Biles starts her exercise.
U.S. Core Hydration Classic will witness 3 women’s Olympic all-around gold medalists including Simone Biles competing under the same roof
The U.S. Core Hydration Classic 2024 is going to be a platform for Simone Biles and others to put their preparations to the test before hitting French soil for the Olympics in July.
The competition is also going to mark a historic event unfolding as three Olympic all-around champions, including Biles, Gabby Douglas, and Suni Lee will compete together for the first time.
The U.S. Core Hydration Classic is Biles and others' chance to secure their spots in the upcoming 2024 Xfinity U.S. National Championships taking place in Forth Worth, Texas, from May 30 to June 3.
The event would be followed by the US Olympic Trials from June 27 to June 30, which will be the last stop for the gymnasts to book their seats for the flight to Paris.
