Suni Lee has reached Paris and has shared a hilarious tour of the Olympic village. The gymnast has shared moments from a visit to the Village, featuring Simone Biles and other gymnasts.
The 21-year-old is ready to compete in the second Olympic Games of her career. She previously had a successful Tokyo Games, where she won gold in the all-around event, one silver in the team, and one bronze in the uneven bars. Now, she is poised to perform in Paris.
She qualified for the 2024 Summer Games after producing a notable performance at the US gymnastics Olympic trials. She finished second in the all-around, first in the uneven bars, and finished fifth on the balance beam. She made the Olympic team along with Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezley Rivera.
The US team has reached Paris, and Lee shared a video from the visit to the Olympic village on TikTok, in which she shared several fun incidents and accommodation details. The first part of the video showed moments of Leanne Wong's failed attempt to cook eggs, and Rivera sleeping on the bus while heading to the village. Wong is a replacement athlete for the USA women's gymnastics team in Paris.
Following this, the video showed an excited Chiles, and Lee said:
"Guys we didn't get this experience last Olympics so we're like overly hyped."
Along with this, she showed her room for the Olympics, showing the cardboard beds and the wardrobe for her and her roommate Chiles. The video was shared on X (formerly twitter) by a fan:
Suni Lee opens up about advancing to the Paris Olympics
Suni Lee qualified for the Paris Olympics after recovering from two kidney diseases. She recently opened up about how she managed to make a comeback and advance to the 2024 Summer Games. She shared her experience in an interview with NBC Sport, where she talked about a period where she almost gave up, and about navigating through self-doubt.
"It was just such a hard, incredible journey," said Lee. "There were so many times where I thought about quitting and just giving up because I was so sick and it was just so hard to stay motivated, watching everyone get better and I can’t even get back in the gym, and constantly like self-doubting myself."
Giving credit to the people close to her, she said:
"But once I had those people around me who lifted me up and supported me, I knew this was something that I wanted."
After three Tokyo Olympic medals and three World Championship medals, Lee will be looking to clinch more medals at the Paris Olympics, with the Women's Gymnastics competition starting on 28 July.
