Reigning all-around Olympic champion Suni Lee was visibly stunned by her compatriot Jade Carey's fall during the floor exercise routine in the Paris Olympics subdivision two qualification round.
Suni Lee and her teammates participated in their first event at the Summer Games on Sunday, July 28, where the American lineup put on an incredible show in the qualifying rounds, finishing at the top of the table with a score of 172.296. Lee also contributed to her team's first-place finish as she placed third in uneven bars with a score of 14.866, second in individual all-around with 56.132, and third in the balance beam with a score of 14.033. However, she was unable to make it to the top three in the vault apparatus.
On the other hand, Lee's teammate and reigning floor exercise Olympic champion, Jade Carey, had a forgettable outing as she fell during the floor exercise routine. Carey was going strong in her floor routine with a series of flips, but when she attempted a backflip to conclude the exercise, she suffered a backward fall.
Suni Lee was in shock after seeing the unfortunate event, and her reaction was captured in a video shared by an X user. They wrote:
"Suni's reaction to Jade's fall."
However, Jade Carey redeemed herself in the vault apparatus, finishing second behind Simone Biles with a score of 14.433 and contributing significantly to Team USA's dominance in the qualifying rounds.
