Tara Davis-Woodhall on her move to Kansas City
After her success at the Paris Olympics, Tara Davis-Woodhall will now be taking on a new challenge. The long jumper will be joining K-State as an assistant coach next season, sharing her expertise with upcoming student-athletes.
Speaking on her decision, she told 13 Sports,
“My coach Travis Geopfert is the best coach in the entire world. When he asked me if I wanted to come coach at K-State, I was like honestly, yes.”
She went on to explain her approach to her role, saying,
“I’ve been to two schools now. And I’ve seen how coaches treat the athletes. A lot of coaches treat the athletes as points, and I wanna be the coach who treats them as a person.”
Outside of her responsibility as a coach, Tara Davis-Woodhall is looking forward to becoming a part of the Kansas community.
“I am a community person. I love a nice community, and I love the sense of belonging. So to be extremely welcomed this way, it feels good. They see me for me, and they see me for my personality, and not what I can do on the track either, so that’s really cool.”
As a student-athlete, Davis-Woodhall spent her freshman year at the University of Georgia before moving to the University of Texas, where she went on to win the 2020-21 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the long jump and claim the Big 12 Outdoor Championship.
