Jordan Chiles is all geared up to compete in the 2025 NCAA season and has made a major move by making her return to UCLA. The American gymnast will now compete for the Bruin Gymnastics in the upcoming season after a successful run at the Paris Olympics.
Chiles won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Games in the team all-around event, where she and her team trounced Italy and Brazil to stand atop the podium. She also won bronze in the floor exercise.
Now, a few months after the Olympic Games, Jordan Chiles is all set to compete in 2025 and is back at UCLA, competing for the Bruin Gymnastics. The Big Ten Gymnastics shared a video of the gymnast on X, where she was seen posing in the UCLA leotard, and wrote:
"That girl is back🤩 Jordan Chiles returns to @uclagymnastics."
In the Paris Olympics, Chiles also faced an unexpected incident in the floor exercise, as she was ripped off her bronze medal a few days after the triumph. Chiles initially finished in fifth place, but Team USA's coach, Cecile Landi, made an appeal in front of the judges at the last moment, and the gymnast's score increased from 13.666 to 13.766, shifting her to third place, replacing the Romanian gymnast, Ana Barbosu.
Following this, the Romania Gymnastics filed an appeal in the Court of Arbitration against Landi's appeal, saying it was submitted four seconds late. The court accepted the appeal, and Chiles was ripped off her bronze medal to be eventually placed fifth.
Jordan Chiles opened up about the Olympic bronze medal controversy
In an interview with NBC's Hoda Kotb, Jordan Chiles opened up about her frustration about the bronze medal controversy. She said that she and her team did no wrong and addressed the appeal made by the Romanian Gymnastics.
"It's hard to tell yourself everything is going to be fine when we literally didn’t do anything wrong. Everything was in the time that it needed to be. For them to come back and say it was four seconds too late when we have proof… I can only control what my truth is and I know that we were right," Jordan Chiles said.
Along with this, she also opened up about winning her first individual Olympic medal:
"It was like a cherry on top. My redemption tour going into Paris was 'Yes.' Coming back with a gold, coming back with the understanding that I was able to go out there and be the best version of myself. With this floor medal it was like 'Wow, I never expected myself to make a floor final.'"
Jordan Chiles won two golds in the 2023 NCAA Championships in the uneven bars and the floor exercise, and a silver medal in the all-around event. The gymnast is also launching her autobiography, which will be released on March 4, 2025.
