Simone Biles described the Gold Over America tour as a high-energy pop-concert style gymnastics event with the gymnasts performing on playlists inspired by Beyonce, Post Malone, Ken and Barbie and Taylor Swift. She ecstatically shared that the audience, especially the kids, have been thoroughly enjoying the GOAT shows.
Biles won gold in the all-around, team, and vault and silver in the floor routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics, after ending her Tokyo Olympics run in 2021 in the wake of twisties. Following her Tokyo Olympics heartbreak, the 27-year-old introduced the Gold Over America tour to inspire the up-and-coming generations with her mental health journey and empower athletes to speak their truths.
With the second edition of the tour currently underway, the gymnasts concluded a show at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 27, 2024. Ahead of the Indianapolis show on October 29, Simone Biles was in conversation with the Click On Detroit | Local 4 | WDIV, talking about how she perceives the GOAT as a pop-concert-style gymnastics celebration.
She said:
"It's a high energy, pop style concert gymnastics. We have Beyonce, we have some Post Malone, We have some Cannon Barbie, and we have some Taylor Swift and the kids are absolutely eating it up. The whole audiences are singing while we're performing, like we're truly blessed. We're just blessed." [2:07 onwards]
Biles' husband and NFL player, Jonathan Owens, also accompanied the 11-time Olympic medalist in some of her tour stops, the first of which was in Milwaukee. He was also seen trying out the gymnastic equipment parallel bars and learning a basic floor routine from US gymnast Jordan Chiles.
Simone Biles recently said she would not bond with Taylor Swift at NFL games
Both Swift and Biles are NFL WAGS, standing for wives and girlfriends of high-profile athletes, players, or personalities. The former is the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, while Biles is married to the opponent team, Chicago Bears' safety, Jonathan Owens.
Since the Bears and Chiefs are rivals, Simone Biles ended the possibility of bonding with Taylor Swift, during a candid conversation on the premiere night of her eponymous docuseries.
"You usually don’t bond with opponents," she said. [3:05]
After her successful Paris Olympics campaign, Biles announced the termination of Yurchenko Double Pike, the vault routine that was named after her at the 2023 World Championships.
