Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall have expressed gratitude for the best season of their careers in 2024. The couple won their maiden Olympic and Paralympic gold medals at the Paris Games.

The two bid farewell to the year with a series of pictures on their joint Instagram handle on Wednesday, sharing the highlights from the Paris Games and their off-season celebrations. The Woodhalls termed the year the craziest of their lives and boasted of having achieved the "David vs Goliath" dream, symbolizing underdogs' victory over insurmountable odds.

"The craziest year of our lives. So many ups and downs but somehow ended on top. We can’t say thank you enough for all the support. We had a David vs Goliath dream, and we couldn’t have done it alone. Thanks to everyone who made it happen," they captioned the post.

The two have been dating since 2017 after meeting at a track meet, and before tying the knot in 2022, they competed together at the 2021 edition of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. While Hunter did win a medal in the Japanese capital, Tara Davis-Woodhall came home empty-handed before redeeming herself with gold in Paris.

She jumped an incredible 7.10m in the long jump final at the Paris Olympics, and being the only athlete to cross the 7m mark, the 25-year-old was handed the gold medal. She ran off to the stands at the Stade de France to celebrate her victory with Hunter, who also won his maiden gold medal a month later.

The Paralympic sprinter crossed the finish line first in the T62 400m race, clocking 46.36s for the gold. He also won a bronze medal in the mixed 4x100m relay.

Speaking in an interview with Olympics.com following their triumphs in Paris, Hunter Woodhall termed the moment of completing the "David vs Goliath" dream with wife Tara Davis-Woodhall as the most amazing sports moment in history.

"It was the most amazing sports moment ever. It's at the top of my highlight reel," he said.

Explaining why it meant so much to them, the 25-year-old shared that they had gone through the hardships together before dreaming of making that memorable moment come true.

"Just because we've done this whole entire process together, not just this year, but the past six years, going through so many trials and tribulations and injuries and bad seasons. And then finally, both of us just deciding, 'Hey, we want to do something really special in Paris', and the lead-up to that and then all of that hard work and sacrifice led to those two incredible moments that neither of us will ever forget," Hunter Woodhall added.

The Woodhalls moved to Kansas from Arkansas following the Games and are now training together for the 2025 World Championships.
