Grant Holloway was recently seen having a conversation with the American tennis player, Ben Shelton, who attended the Holloway Pro Classic to support his fellow Gators in Gainesville. Shelton spoke about his track workouts that help him in tennis.
Holloway is poised to compete in his second Olympics after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 110m hurdles after his dominant performance at the US trials. The American hurdler recently also showcased his prowess in his pet event at the 2024 Monaco Diamond League, which was held on July 12.
He solidified his legacy in the 110m hurdles by standing atop the podium after recording 13.01s. He trounced Lorenzo Ndele Simonelli and Cordell Tinch, who clocked 13.08s and 13.10s, respectively.
Grant Holloway spoke to the tennis player and his fellow Florida Gators alumni Ben Shelton about the track workouts that he puts in tennis. Shelton revealed that his training regime includes workouts similar to those of long-distance runners.
"Tennis is an endurance sport so I say we train more like long distance runners. I'll have 8x400 with a minute and a half rest in between. We just grind it out. Not as much speed work. Just straight endurance," Shelton said. (via Citius Mag)
Grant Holloway opens up about his Paris Olympics mindset
In a recent interview with NBC, Grant Holloway opened up about his Paris Olympics goals after winning silver in the Tokyo Olympics. The athlete revealed that his second-place podium finish in the 110m hurdles at the 2020 Games has left a 'sour taste,' and he is focused on redemption for the 2024 Summer Games.
He opened up about the 'quite celebration' following his win in Tokyo and said he just wants to do his best in the upcoming Olympics.
"It was kind of like a quite celebration," Holloway said. "Not a lot of people were there. Obviously, the biggest thing for Paris is redemption. I still have a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth for the silver. I really just want to go out there and do the best that I can fo on that day and have fun."
The 26-year-old also opened up about the changes within himself that will make a difference in Paris.
"This Grant is a little more mature, a little more wiser. He's starting to understand the sport a little bit more. Consistency and growth are two of the things Grant likes. So I'm really just looking forward to sticking with my team and continue to chase gold," he added.
Grant Holloway will soon head to Paris with his 110m hurdles USA squad, including Freddie Crittenden and Daniel Roberts, for the 2024 Summer Games, which is scheduled for July 26 to August 11.
