Noah Lyles and his brother Josephus Lyles recently fueled excitement for the UA/Lyles Foundation Invitational ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The UA/Lyles Foundation Invitational is slated for Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Clarksburg High School, in Clarksburg, Maryland, United States. Josephus Lyles, who recently clocked his personal best season opener, is the three-peat world champion's young brother by a year.
Josephus achieved the personal best season opener feat at the Kirk Baptise Spring Break Invitational at the Ton Tellez Track in Houston, Texas on March 14, 2024, clocking a striking time of 10.14 seconds. The sibling duo turned professional together in July 2016 after signing with Adidas.
Noah Lyles, who secured a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to stir up the excitement for the upcoming UA/Lyles Foundation Invitational, a competition organized by the Union Athletics in collaboration with The Noah Lyles Foundation, that empowers youth through health and wellness.
The 2023 World Athletics Champion also assured the sibling's presence at the event and wrote:
"DMV we coming your way! P.s yes we will be there."
The Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation was established with a vision to inspire the youth and to make them believe in themselves.
"He makes sure that whatever he needs, he’s going to get," - Noah Lyles' brother Josephus opens up on what sets the three-peat champion apart from other athletes
Noah Lyles secured three gold medals at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the Hungarian capital, including the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events.
Before his historic feat, in an interview with NBS Sports in 2023, Josephus Lyles praised his elder brother and expressed his perspective on what makes his brother stand out from other athletes in the lineup. He commended the world champion's self-awareness and assertiveness, saying:
"Noah is very good at listening to what he needs and making it happen," Josephus said. "When I watch other athletes and when I watch him, one thing that he does differently that is very important is he makes sure that whatever he needs, he’s going to get."
"A lot of athletes will need something and won’t ask for it thinking it’s not a reasonable request but that does not matter to Noah. He’s like, “This is what I need to do well. I’m going to get it," Josephus Lyles added.
The 2023 world champion will be seen competing at the World Athletics Relays ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
