Alicia Sacramone is a former American gymnast who bid adieu to the sport in 2012 after the Olympic Trials. Despite retiring from an illustrious career, Sacramone remains passionately connected to her beloved sport by exploring new avenues, including playing a vital role in the selection of the Gymnastics team for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Sacramone led the 2008 Olympic gymnastics team in Beijing, which secured a silver medal after finishing behind China. She performed in three events in the qualifying as well as the team final rounds, bagging 15.675 points on vault and 14.125 and 15.1 points on floor and beam, respectively, after suffering a fall on both, and found herself under fire for the team's second place.
After falling short of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics, she gracefully took her final bow to the sport. In 2015, Alicia Sacramone joined the ESPN Network as a gymnastics analyst and worked on SEC Network’s signature gymnastics franchise, Friday Night Heights, and the NCAA Championships.
In May 2022, the former Olympian was named the Strategic Lead for the USA Gymnastics Women’s Program. She leads the strategic planning and guides the overall direction of the high-performance program. Sacramone's role also includes fostering the growth of the national team as well as the development of individual gymnasts, physically and mentally.
Sacramone exchanged the wedding vows with the former NFL quarterback, Brady Quinn in March 2014 and now also enjoys her role as a mother to three daughters Sloan Scott Quinn, Teagan Marie Quinn, and Cassidy Nicole Quinn, and a son, Cavanaugh Ty Quinn.
Alicia Sacramone enjoyed a successful run at the World Gymnastics Championships
Alicia Sacramone's gymnastics career is filled with several World Championships victories. Her initial World Championship medals were earned in 2005 in floor exercise and vault. She secured a gold medal in floor and a bronze in vault in Melbourne.
The following year, she bagged two silver medals in team and vault events in Aarhus, Denmark. She was a part of the American squad that clinched the gold medal in the team event in 2007 in Stuttgart, Germany. She decided to bid farewell to the sport after the Beijing Olympics, only to return in August 2009 and collect a gold medal in vault and a silver medal in the team event at the 2010 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Alicia Sacramone was one of the three members, including Tatiana Perskaia and Jessie DeZiel that selected the women's gymnastics team for Paris.
