Gabby Thomas is currently gearing up to compete at the Athlos Meet, which will take place at the Icahn Stadium in New York on September 26. It will be the 27-year-old's first track appearance following her exploits at the Paris Olympics.
Thomas competed in three races at the quadrennial event and won gold in each of them. The Harvard graduate won the 200m event after clocking 21.83 seconds in the final. She helped the United States 4x100m relay team win gold, as they clocked 41.78 seconds in the final. Thomas took 10.25 seconds to complete the third leg of the race.
The 27-year-old's third gold medal at the Paris Olympics came in the 4x400m relay, where she clocked 49.30 seconds in her leg in the final. The Americans clocked 3:15.27 seconds to win the event ahead of the likes of Netherlands and Great Britain, who won silver and bronze, respectively.
Next up for Gabby Thomas, is the Athlos meet, which will take place at the Icahn Stadium.
"I just pulled up to the track and I'm by myself today because my training partners are racing overseas," she said on TikTok.
Gabby Thomas will compete in the 200m event at the Athlos Meet, where her opponents include Paris 2024 bronze medalist Brittany Brown, Torrie Lewis, Anavia Battle, Jenna Prandini, and Tamara Clark.
The other events in the New York City tournament include 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 100m hurdles. There will be quite a few popular athletes in action at the Icahn Stadium, including the likes of Masai Russell, Faith Kipyegon, Shamier Little, Lieke Klaver, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith.
Gabby Thomas on Athlos Meet's broadcasters
Athlos Meet's organizer, entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, recently announced the broadcasters for the event, that included YouTube, ESPN, X and DAZN. Thomas reacted to this by saying that the event felt like the most accessible track meet ever.
“Let’s freaking go!!!! Athlos track meet. Sep 26. NYC. You can watch on YouTube, X, ESPN, and DAZN ?! Feels like the most accessible track meet ever?? Finally," Thomas said.
Gabby Thomas has produced some impressive performances so far in 2024, particularly in the 200m discipline. She triumphed at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, the USATF New York City Grand Prix, and the London Diamond League.
The 27-year-old wasn't as successful in the 100m event, with her last performance being a fourth-place finish at the USATF New York City Grand Prix.
