TJ Holmes and his partner Amy Robach were a part of the 2024 Chicago Marathon; however, the run took an unexpected turn as Holmes sustained an injury in his Achilles tendon. The marathon was held on Sunday, October 13.
The Chicago Marathon featured more than 50,000 runners and had multiple famous faces running the race in both men's and women's divisions. Renowned names like Aaron Pike, Susannah Scaroni, Sara Hall, Betsy Saina, Keira D'Amato, and multiple others were part of the race. Among them, the former Good Morning America co-anchors, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach, were also a part of the elite crowd.
However, the 44-year-old journalist appeared to have sustained the injury between the 15th and the 21st miles of the marathon. Which subsequently led to him dropping out with a 26.2-mile race still remaining. The update was shared by Robach on her Instagram, where she shared a picture of Holmes lying in an ambulance with his legs tied to the bed and wrote:
"Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out."
Holmes also shared an image of his leg and added the caption:
"So, this happened. #chicagoamarathon *crying emoji*"
